This brings back memories for me from the early 70's. A relative, Ed Butler, used to own a resort on this lake and we launched a boat a little ways from there. I do recall catching a 28" muskie off one of his piers which was down a hill from a cottage that a priest used to stay at quite a few times but I don't remember where the resort was- maybe on the north side of the lake(?). Anyone know or could post a map of where his resort was? Just curious.

Public access point on Lake Seventeen photo.

Information from Wisconsin DNR, and Oneida County.

Thankfully many, many years ago the State of Wisconsin recognized the importance of maintaining the publics ability to access our natural resources. Rules were enacted that required developers of lakeshore subdivisions to reserve a portion of the development for public access. A portion of the land that creates Wildwood road provides waterfront access to the public, and fulfilled such obligations of subdivided development.

taiwegian - Does Seventeen have an official Lake Association registered with the state?

Finbender - There are a few private launches on the lake. You would need to know the owner of the property to be granted access.

A quick search of Oneida County's GIS mapping system shows the DNR public access on the western most bay off of Hideaway Lane. I'm not looking to "sneek" on. I'm looking for a fully legal way to launch a boat. I know I can get a canoe in there via public access but I want to get my fishing boat in. I remember 35 years ago that my parents used a private landing on the north side of the main lake. Again, If anyone knows how arrangements can be made to get a boat in post-up or PM me, thanks.

I know there are ways to get boats in there. In approx. 1976 there was a private water-ski slalom course on the lake with large inboards like correct-craft ski-nautiques on it.

I own a cabin on this lake. There is no public access. I do most of my fishing elsewhere, as this is mainly a bass/northern lake with gin clear water. The locals don't take kindly to people sneaking on the lake.

I think there is public access. At least there used to be. The DNR owned (owns?) a strip of land on the western most bay. That land was never improved and a landing was never put in. It was walk-in only. Now this is going back 35 years when my parents owned a cabin there. I was hoping that a landing was there now, guess not.

In my research on this lake I did find a rental cabin on the lake that advertised that arrangements could be made to get a boat in, but no details were given......anyone have any ideas on how that's done? Feel free to PM me, thanks.

I see this lake hasn't been posted on for 7 years. Has there been any access opened in that time? I'd like to fish it but don't know if there is a landing anywhere.....is there?
