It was hot for the last week in September, go figure, Fishing was spotty with a few walleyes and a nice smallmouth. We fished at all depths with most of our fish were caught early evening in 10fow. The bloody Mary's were awesome though and had a blast anyway.

I see the lilacs were still blooming when I got up to Eagle R. so, deerskin and I checked out the crappies and found em still in shallows Thur. Been a while since I was able to get on em here since I never seem to be up early enough in season. Once they move out to deeper water I never hear of anyone catching any. Just a million of little Rock Bass along witht the ever present bait stealing tiny perch. Tried fer walleyes in the moonlight but, forgot our headlamps and wind came up. Out again Fri. moring to try for a variety=more crappies, one eye, one northern. Nice to be on the northwoods water even though cool and windy.

Last day for gamefishing trying to get a younger guy his first walleye thru ice. Only action was dink perch and occasional biteoffs from northerns. Tippups and jigging all afternoon-dark, left the tippups in while watching from shore cooking supper. Talked of leaving em in until mid-nite but, too tired after the L-L Jambo to keep a sharp watch on em so, pulled em out a couple hours short of the final bell. Headed to Castle Rock next day where the season never closes and got him his first eye thru ice.

Anyone ever try for muskies in the summer here? Planning on spending a lot of time at the cottage on Carpenter Lake this summer, and was hoping to try the Eagle River Chain this time...Never fished it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to message me. Thanks.

Went out this weekend by the island. Fishing was very slow. A couple of nice strikes, but could bring them in. Got a few perch.

Saw some guys in a black shanty and they were making a lot of noise. They could have had the honey hole. That or else they were drunk.

Tight lines everyone.

Sometimes do good on eyes and northerns at weed edges on early ice in Dec. but, very few fishermen hit this lake in winter, I have been on it twice this winter but, not early enough,,,,, lot of very little perch and a couple of nice northerns, saw bluegills in weeds with underwater camera but, they would not bite. Fatherinlaw pulled out one over slot walleye in Dec. Daughter got some nicer sized perch and little walleyes in early Jan. Check the Eagle River chain reports or vilas county lake reports for more info
