I am planning on fishing out of Saxon harbor next Monday and any input on where best to find trout?    Depth, etc. Mi or wi side recommended.   Any recent succes stories? Thanks.

From a Google search...  "The daily possession limit for lake trout and splake is 5 in any combination, but no more than 3 of any one species, EXCEPT in Lake Superior, as noted in Table 4 below. The minimum size limit for lake trout and splake shall be 15″; the daily possession limit shall not include more than 1 lake trout 34″ or greater. "

There is enough room to fish between the refuge north of Saxon and the WI shoreline.  I haven't made the run out towards it, so not sure how deep it gets before the south line of said refuge.  I do know that east of the refuge from the harbor it takes its time getting deep in comparison to MI up to Little Girls Point, where you can be in80' of water with a half mile of the MI shoreline.

You will be just fine, as long as you don't stop and drop a line in Wisconsin waters on your way back in.  Fish in MI and stay in MI waters.  Pull lines and head back in.  Easy peasy.  Isn't the lake trout limit 5 in MI?

as far as saxon, there is an understanding, or used to be, that you could fish Mi water, as long as you had a MI licence, but you better be coming from a Michigan direction , in other words, don't go for a ride into wisconsin waters, and come into the harbor. although this spring my dad and I got checked at the ramp, I told the warden that we were fishing Mi. but she wanted to see our wis. lic. she was a different warden from the one I was used to, so I would call the dnr, and double check.

Does anyone know how limits work if you launch in WI and fish MI waters?  Curious if anyone ever had issues catching 3 lakers in Michigan and coming back to a WI launch since WI is only 2 fish allowed.

I understand licensing for each state you fish and all that, just more curious about coming back with fish.  Debating where I want to launch to fish MI mostly.

Thinking about driving north and fishing out of Saxon Harbor, no experience on Superior, but have salmon fished quite a bit. Questions are, is there enough room to fish south of the refuge in Wisconsin, or should I get  Michigan day tag and fish their waters.  thanks for any help

Hows the fishing been up there? Looking to get out possibly Saturday and do some trout and salmon fishing. Any insight of a fishing report would be much appreciative!

Anyone have an idea of when launches will be open for small boats?
