Been fishing the pond since first ice. There’s not one area on the pond with 10” of ice...maybe 6” at best. There’s a few areas out there with 2-3 whacks with the bar and it’s through. Areas around the old river channel are very sketchy. Fishing has been spotty. Now with heavy snow cover fish are moving out...late ice should be good.

Fished last Sunday, 6” ice with 2” crust, not much happening. Would not recommend finding the channel as ice is thin in channel.had 1 flag and no gills. I also live on the pond.
I live on the pond. Don’t see many people out there lately. Last weekend talked to 2 guys who had some gills. Nothing worth bragging about but they were trying. Ice is pretty thick as far as walking. Looked over 10” but never drillled it. As long as you’re in the channel where the depths are 6-7’ you’ll catch fish. But you gotta know where the channel is.
I was there over Christmas and never had a bite in 2 hrs. Hole hoped a lot too.
Anyone been on Rome lately / have ice report? Just curious if it’s worth the trip? Fished Rome Pond when I was a kid and can remember doing pretty well out there! Now recent years, the thread doesn’t seem like it’s doing so hot!

Fished the pond today from 2-430. The first 10 yards of ice off the road in the bay was not great. Once out a solid 3”. Fish came through in small waves. Kept 10 for a meal.
three years ago it was great, than all weeds disappeared in the fall, maybe poisoned, now only small fish .
