Absolutely. I CPR just about everything, except carp, if it can be properly disposed of, and once in a while a panny or two for cut bait.

We stocked them in 04 and 05 so they’re in there. I hear of them being caught every once in awhile. If you catch any I’d appreciate it if you could CPR them. We stocked them as carp predators and can’t get them anymore due to DNR rules. We were able to get wild fish from the Mississippi but can’t use wild fish anymore due to VHS.

Is there a decent populatoin of Flathead Cats on that part of the Rock River? Or have they ever been stocked there? I've not caught one yet, but then I haven't really targeted them.

Rock River Rescue will stock the river tomorrow at 9:30 if you'd like to help or watch. We'll have a truck at the Riverside Park Division Street bridge. We're stocking musky, northern pike, walleye, smallmouth bass, crappie, perch, and bluegill. Message me if you have any questions.

I don’t think so. It’s really high and moving fast.

Just curious. Is this area even remotely fishable right now?

Not a lot of carp caught. 10-12 fish taken by 80 participants. The river is a lot healthier than it used to be. Carp population is way down.

Yeah. I get the sense that it became a go-to for lack of a better idea, or lack of better baits. It'll catch fish, sure, but there are FAR more productive presentations. I've heard so many people talk about it like it's the premier, #1 go to for anybody looking to catch catfish. It's often the first thing I'm asked when talking to somebody new about catfishing.

Apparently there was a Carp tournament last weekend at Riverside in connection with Riverfest. I was fishing there that morning, but wasn't aware of the tournament. Anybody know how it ended up, and if any large fish were taken? I didn't catch bupkis for Carp that morning. 7 channel cats, including a 28 incher. Not bad, but not great.

For the first time I tried these vaunted Chicken Livers that so many cat anglers rave about. I almost always use fresh cut baits (suckers, bluegills, shad, perch, white bass, whatever). I was thoroughly disappointed. Set the first one before dawn, and it was hit inside of 2 minutes. Missed the hookup though. Then I set another one, and it got hit before I even set the rod down (never happens). Real tiny cat. So I thought they'd be pretty good, right? But that was the last action I had on livers all day. Cut bait got hit regularly, and outperformed livers by more than 5 to 1. Not sure what all the hubbub's about.
