Crappie's and Bluegill's have been biting real well and size of them have been bigger than first ice. 8" gills and up to 12" crappies.

First time out ice fishing this year. It was the usual story for this lake - plenty of fish cycling through periodically but it was work getting them to bite. The crappies we did hook were all small but the gills seem bigger than average. I didn't bring the handheld with lake map card so I had to move a lot to find the deep water with fish. Ice is 13-15" thick

Fished Rock Lake Sunday for roughly 4 hours while a friend of mine fished Marsh-Miller; neither of us could get a single bite Sad

We threw everything in the book at them and fished until 7:30pm. Saw some schools around the hump but couldn't raise a single fish. Saw some fish on the West shore but again, no bites.

A lot of run off is keeping the temp way down on these small lakes. The temp was way colder on the north end (36-38') vs. south end (41-47).

I was in north bay sat afternoon. Marked lots of fish in 15-20 fow. Caught 20-25 gills and crappie. Largest was 10 inches. Mostly 6-8 inch range. Bite was very aggressive

Were you guys over in that bay to the north? I also had lots of fish on the Vexilar, but only had one fish. I tried most everything. Obviously, I didn't use what you guys were using. Way to go.

Drilled a bunch of holes and found a spot with crappies stacked up. The flasher was lit up all day. However, getting them to bite was no easy task. The only bait I got to work was red wigglers and red Impulse tapeworms, trying to imitate bloodworms. Even then, putting the bait in the school was useless. I had to jig above them and try to coax one to come up after the bait then make it chase up. After one bit, others were more willing to come up out of the school. Ended up with 40 something crappie and gills, but only two crappie were over 10", the others quite small. There were lots of people around me, and I heard comments that they only got one or two. So drill lots of holes and look around for fish before you wet a line.

Was fishing by 8:30 and from 9 to about 10:30 had many taps on the line, but then it dropped off. Couldn't interest the fish in anything. Maybe Saturday will be better.

Didn't get out on the lake until about 10am on 2/2/13. We didn't get anything jigging, but had quite a few flags up until about 2pm then they just stopped. Kids had fun chasing down all the flags.
