Did some kayak fishing on 4-5-20 at 11am. No weeds so very easy paddle out and back. saw about 7 other kayaks/boats out. Water temp was in the low 50s. Caught only one snake northern in an hour and a half of fishing. Father in law got skunked.

Took the boys out, fished 4 hours with 9 lines in the water. 2 flags, 1 fish. 24” northern. I know it is a small sample size, but my gut says it hasn’t come back yet from that winter kill several years ago. This was my first time back at Red Cedar in 1.5 years. At least the one we caught had normal girth to him it, which is an improvement over the crazy skinny ones from 2-3 years ago.
Walked out from public launch. About 4” of ice, but the top was rotten from the warm weather. Open water on north, north-west, and a little bit by the duck blind.
Below 40° F
Fished Sunday with the normal small pike action. Great place to take the kids or beginners. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up the aerators were put in today in the typical spot in the north end. Also we will be having our annual fisheree Saturday January 14 from 7-4. You can pick up your fishing ticket at Rockdale bar or the bait shanty. Brats and hot dogs will be available all day some come on out and have a blast catching those pike!
Public access can be used, but it's a pretty good hike to the lake, we were able to use the farmers field in past years and that gets you right on the lake.
I have never been out to Red Cedar so I dont know about access issues. Is there a reason the public launch cant be used?Dnr website says and shows that there is a public launch site for this body of water.
..........if only there was some way to reach Red Cedar Farmer to ask him...
We will not be allowing access through our field this year. Thank you for respecting our land.
