Been a few years sinced I've fished Potato Lake and pretty much the same as I remembered. Nothing super big, but perfect size for a few meals. Fish ranged 7-10 inches. Could of took a 2 man limit, but decided to cut the fishing short. Fished in about 18-20ft using a 5mm tungsten and plastic. Schools of crappies throughout the area I was fishing, but you had to chase them around to catch them.
Was out 1-10-20, measures 10 inches of ice in one spot and 8 in in another. Caught 15 crappies that were 7-9 inches in 18 FOW.
Was out fishing 1-10-21 with my boys. On potato lake found a rod bag on the ice. Was hoping to find the owner of it. Whoever can describe it and its contents I would have to think they are the owner. Happy fishing!

Solid ice, drove my 3800# car on. Today fishing was very different than normal. They seemed to move around a lot and lay on the bottom hiding from the flasher. Found a few suspenders but not near as many as usual. Very little snow on the lake. Kept 21 gills and crappies, they seem to be better sized this year vs the last 2 seasons. Tougher to get but better quality. They wouldn't touch live bait for me so I used a flirty girty with a gullicksons Beavertail to catch them. A few gills were gorgeous with a purple haze to them. Decent eaters biggest gill 8" biggest crappie 10"
There is about 6" on most area lakes.
How much snow is on the lake? Debating bringing my 2 man flip over this week but don’t feel like pulling it through a foot of snow. Thanks

Was out 29th and yes saw a bunch of ATV’s running around the lake. Fishing was slower than normal for potato.
How's the ice depth on potato, any atv traffic? Seen trucks up and down the road by the narrows, but would like to go to boat landing out by the islands.
Drive another hour north and your odds are much better. Haven't been by potato but based on other lakes in the area, I doubt it's fishable. One more week.
