Completely overgrown, covered in algae and tree branches. Thick mats of evergreen needles. Plenty of frogs hopping around but no fish.

Best place to park would be the area for cross country ski and running. It is right off of Hey JR, at the bottom of the hill past the turn.

Map in last post shows up smaller when uploaded. Hope folks can still figure it out. You could always google UW-Parkside's map on Google Earth and find details yourself.

Put together this map highlighting the ponds in question. The pond on the right (east) is off limits(on UW-Parkside Campus), the other one on the left (west) is the one you'll be able fish. Be safe, it is fed by a small stream and could be dangerous during melting conditions. Since it is set low inside the woods on warmer days it's really vulnerable to run-off. In my opinion not worth the trouble. A few nice bass in there, panfish are small'ish. Hope this helps. Good luck fishing. I'm going to Geneva Lake, that's a big pond with bigger fish. Wink

its a small pond behind the softball fields at the southwest corner of the park. look for the park entrance that is on Hwy JR and look just east of the softball fields. I've never fished it, but the reports are that it is a stunted lake that sometimes gets a bleed over fish from the creek when it overflows. Other than the bleed overs, it has a ton of panfish.

Some posters have this pond confused with the pond on the UW-P campus near the comm-arts building. That pond is off limits.

Can anyone help me out?????? I've lived in this area (Racine/Kenosha) all my life, and never knew there was a fishable "pond" at Pet's....So where is it? Does it freeze out in the winter? Wouldn't mind taking the kids out for some panfish....Any advise would be appreciated.. Thanks M.G.K

For what it's worth, prior to the first time I fished this pond last year, I happened to see a UW-Parkside squad car nearby so I pulled up next to it to ask. The female officer told me there were no regulations against fishing in that pond. That's the only reason I went there the next day. My daughter and I caught about 50 Panfish, mostly stunted, but we did get a few small Bass too, the biggest being about 12" or so.

I spoke to the DNR on the evening the Parkside 5-0 told us the same thing. The DNR informed me there is no such fishing sanctuary there. The lake is classified as a small drainage lake that overflows from the river. The DNR specifically told me it is perfectly fine to fish there. Whether fish are stunted or not it is still nice to be able to get out somewhere quickly with a line in the water. Besides I dont go there to just to catch fish. I go there to relax and enjoy my time outdoors. Fish on!! Cool
