You should have easy paddling that part of the river this year. It's still a little high from the recent rains and also how they control the dams in that section. Normally it's a bit rocky and shallow between Hwy P and Hwy W, but should be fine this year.
I've personally never got a trout in this section (although I don't target them). Mainly small mouth bass, pike and of course suckers, walleyes are rare. I like to use jigs and a 1/2 crawler in the holes. The bass hit it good and when you start getting too many suckers move to the next hole. For artificial, it's tough to beat a big white/chrome spinner-bait.
That's a pretty long float depending on how long you fish each hole and if it's a hot weekend you have the company of tubers especially in the afternoon, good luck, post a report.
