Fished Pensaukee Lake yesterday (02/23/21) with my son. Ice depth was 14-16 inches. Had no problem driving out in a SUV. Crappies and gills were very active but on the small size. Biggest crappies and gills were 7 inches. No fish kept.
Below 40° F
41° - 45° F
toughontrout, I did not measure the ice and I don't post without actually measuring. However my best guess is that there is about 9 - 10" of ice. Quite a few ATV and snowmobile tracks out there but my truck was parked on the road.
Fished 8 till 1; trying both the first and second lake. Only caught a couple gills. Suspended at 15'-18' in the deeper parts.
On the road near the launch, as long as you leave plenty of room for access to the lake.
Tough......there’s a point to the left of the boat landing. It’s straight off of that, right in the middle. It’s about 25’ deep.
Thanks everyone we are gonna try again Friday. Will post results
JimJack....I’ve put in a lot of time ice fishing here in the past. It’s been a while. I’ve done well for crappie on the first lake, suspended in the hole. I’ve never caught one over 10”, and most were much smaller. I’ve also never caught a walleye there. Lots of little northern on tipups, but nothing over 24”. I’m sure there are bigger in there, but it’s not a trophy fishery.
We used a 4wheeler. Ice is rough on top from when it warmed up but as for thickness it was about 6in or so. Saw a few more wheelers out too besides us
I was here yesterday and my buddies caught some bluegills in the deep on 2nd lake. No tipup action to speak of. I was told you can catch walleyes here can anyone steer me in the right direction for catching some next time we visit? Crappies too
66° - 70° F
Fished on 5/16/20 There was heavy traffic on the lake and NO ONE caught anything! Anglers on the lake were mostly professional. Each seemed to have their favorite spots. Spoke to several of the anglers and no one caught anything.
