My son and I made it out all 3 days over labor day weekend. Since it is the last time we will fish otter lake this year we were glad to be able to get out all 3 days. We did well all 3 days. We mostly caught nice crappies (10" or larger) with a couple of 9" gills in the mix each day. We fished a different location each day as the wind seemed to shift each day. We got enough for a good meal on Saturday night and some for the freezer. Good luck all and tight lines.
61° - 65° F
56° - 60° F
Fantom any gills? I haven’t really panfished the lake in a few years as the size seemed to go down the drain. Very nice crappies tho! Hopefully we see more and more nice catches!
My son and I fished Otter Lake again this last weekend. We didn't get out until the rain quit on Saturday. We made it out much earlier on Sunday. Once again Otter Lake did not disappoint. Both days we caught nice crappies enough for a couple meals each. We were picky about what we kept only 10 inch or bigger fish and we were only out an hour and a half each trip. Good luck and tight lines.
Moving to Stanley and although I have fished otter for panfish I have never really targeted walleyes. How is the lake for walleye fishing? I heard it’s one of the best in the region for them.
Is the Otter lake benefit that is usually held in July still on or like most other events has that been canceled as well. Does any one know???
For everyone's information the Otter Lake Boosters fishing contest is cancelled. I received this from Otter Lake Bait Store, which they were able to confirm.
Fished Otter yesterday first time this year.
Ice is about 12-18 inches varies a lot. couple ATVs yet. Got dinner but was on 3 battery for auger. Get one crappie and rest moved. Had to move 100 feet to find next dumb one. Fish are in different places this year.
I was there this morning and travel was excellent. Top foot of ice is frozen sluch so might get slushy again as it melts this weekend with warm temps. North landing was good. Didn't check on south landing. Not much gill activity this morning, but cold front and sunny...not the best.
Hows the ice holding up?
"Should of been there yesterday", is the phrase for today's bite for myself. Guess the past weekend up till yesterday(Tuesday) the bite was good from other's report's. Think the weather and wind change direction was a indicator that the barometer was changing also. Had a decent bite mid-morning few nice Gills and Crappies that ran on the smaller side. Just before noonish the bite quit altogether for me and marking fish hole hopping where I caught them earlier in the mid-morning became a thing of the past. Report's there was a decent 2-5pm bite, but snack's at Otter Lake Bait & Tackle were calling the dog and I so we boogied! LOL.
