Bringing the family up fishing in early September bass fishing. I heard it is a tough lake to fish. Anybody have any tips or advice for early fall bass fishing on Okauchee?? Any info greatly appreciated

Out yesterday for a few hours in the afternoon. Very pleasant conditions and not too many speed boats out. We fished outside of weed beds, points and shorelines. Used buzz baits, spinnerbaits, plastic frogs, and vibes for deeper water. One bite in three hours of fishing. Picked a lot of weeds off our lures.

We’ll be back and try in the evening or early morning next time. Good luck and enjoy your time on the water.

There were piles of BIG carp spawning in real shallow weedy water on Saturday. The specific spot is really only accessible by kayak (northeast end, under the driveway bridge in the bay on the east side of the lake). They usually spawn pretty heavily along the rip rap on the eastern shore of the main lake right there, and in Crane's Nest bay in the lily pads. I'd imagine the water there will be warm enough for that to start here this week if it hasn't already. That's quite the haul to get up there from The Golden Mast launch by trolling motor but definitely doable when calm. If you want to stick close to the public launch, I'd recommend going at night. The shorelines around lower Okauchee, the main channel, and Bay 5 usually have a decent amount of carp cruising after dark.

Anyone see any carp lately? We have a boat to come and get some but are limited to a trolling motor so any carp filled spots near a landing would be perfect. Would love to come get some. The larger sized carp, the better. Feel free to message me. Thanks!!

Bass have really turned on lately, caught probably 30-35 in 3 hrs this evening, with 3 more little walleyes.  All caught on plastic worms. Crappie bite has slowed down for me as to be expected, but still plenty of action. Had a musky swipe at a small LM bass that I was reeling in

First time out this spring on okauchee last sat. Crappies biting as usual. Caught this nice 13.5 inch suprise on a gulp minnow. Thinking it is from the 4000 we stocked 2 septembers ago.  Guy at the launch said his son caught 3 walleyes lately and he said he saw 2 in the shallows.

Tierney is more of a night bite for crappie. Try to get out there before sun up. I do best with lighted bobbers.  Bass are without a doubt biting all day. If you can fit your boat under the tiny bridge,  theres 4 to 5 lb bass back there. Please practice catch and release
