This last weekend made the trip down to Oconto/Fox to log some hours and try and find 1 big walleye. Was unable to make that happen, but of course had fun, laughs, and great company with friends and my cousin Vince (stud angler from Oconto Falls). Only fished Oconto from morning until a little after lunch. Caught 2 suckers and a male walleye around 17".  Not a ton of boats, probably on account of the slow fishing and rain. Did notice a bug hatch as birds were surface flying eating them up. Mostly jig n minnow combos, but did work a rippin rap. Plenty of ice still floating around, as well as other debris. Hopefully next weekend we can find that 1 big fish. JH

Fished Saturday from about 2 pm-6 pm in the river. Caught eight walleyes and 6 suckers.  Released all of them to swim again.  No lure was hotter than the other.  Caught fish with jig and plastic, jig and minnow, and lip-less cranks.  Fish seem to be scattered throughout the water column, (shallow and deep)

Fished Sunday from 7:30 am to 10:00 am and it was the same thing.

Do you just fish inside the breakwall if you are fishing from shore?

Fished from 9am-1pm. Lots of activity at the break water. Boats were around the mouth and shoreline was semi crowded. Bite was very slow. One girl caught a keeper on jig head and live worm. Mine was caught on a drop-shot rig with a small fluke. Male measured 16.5". I had another that snapped my line. Was jigging a green jig head and green curly tail.

Ghoti:

Thanks for posting the modis image of the Bay!!!

GetaRip:

Looking at the image that Ghoti posted gives me the idea that there will be ice next weekend, unless lots of wind and/or rain impact the ice...  it will just depend on conditions as to where the ice will be on the Bay...  This is just my opinion based on the satellite photo, however...
