Fishing for bass on Pool 5a was good to me last week. If you like frogging look for mixed vegetation with duckweed and good flow. If you're more of an open water bass fisherman fish cut banks and points near the main channel and larger secondary channels with good flow. Flow is key! The river is in great shape! Good luck!
Looks like it is time to take a fly hook and redworm with

I found fish in 3-4 fow where there were some green weeds still standing. The water clarity was good and I was able to sight fish but...they wouldn't bite. Good to know the fish are there. I recorded some of the fish denying my baits. Check it out!
Thanks for your post. I would like to try a little bass fishing.
Been slamming bass on big mepps spinners in the back waters. Lots with good size. Shallow raps as well. Fluorescent orange and yellow has been the hottest. Hopefully this helps. Good luck!
Hello river rats! Just wondering how water level is looking and if anybody has been chasing any bass lately with any success (green or brown). Haven't been here since last year and going to give it a shot for a day this weekend. Hope to catch fish (CPR), but at worst enjoy the views. Any info please feel free to PM me if you don't want to post. Thanks!

Fished hard, moved often and transitioned to various species. Found an area where you could cast your lure and catch bass on every cast. Fun but not what I was after. Caught over 25 eyes with few keepers. Sucks when you consistently catch eyes that measure between 14" but just short of 15". Nice crappies were either in the deep water snags or just off them suspended in the deeper water. Caught many nice perch and the gills are starting on their beds. All in all, a great weekend with some excellent table fare.
Came back as promised a year later with a friend who is very familiar with this pool and he turned us onto some great spots. Lots of action on small smallies & eyes in the various sloughs, smallies also on rocks of course, hooked into some large gils and perch in one of what I call a back bay around timber and in the middle bay not near structure. Also caught numerous pike over 20 and had 2 30+ not landed, one hit a 9" gil being reeled in. We also caught a 17" Goldeye, pretty cool fish, may get that mounted to add to my "fish of Wisconsin" wall. I may have to camp here more than once a year. The size of the panfish makes fishing the lakes around home (Dodge County) almost pointless. Big thanks to my guide/friend Kevin.
Be coming here for vacation what kind of fishing can i exspect hoping to catch some big cats for catch and release and a some pan fish for a meal one night any info would greatly be appreciated
