Had a great day in the kayak with my wife, did not get any bass but managed to get some really nice gills for dinner over the camp fire! All in the wood using a small jig and crawler or honey worm.

I also caught about a 10# dogfish on my ultra light, at least I think it was a dogfish! That was fun!

Use minnows with a split shot rig. Fish out in front of landing to the left a lil bit. Off point on the island.Set bobber 3 ft. In 7-9 ft of water. Float around crappie should be starting to bite. It may not be fast and furious but there are some nice ones. Use a lil crawler by wood for gills. Throw plastic worm or spinner bait for bass off points bays and any deep water structure.

Camping here this weekend and we are taking our kayaks. Any pointers on fishing would be appreciated. I am not a big river fisherman, and I don't do a lot of fall fishing.

Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the heads up, I think my Bass fishing days are over, lately Ive been focusing more on pan fish, My buddy who has a camper knows the area but I think being a large river and so many spots its and adventure anytime he goes out.

Looks like I'll have to dress warm...

Fished there twice this last week. The water on the whole Mississippi system is really low and you need to find some current. There is no current in the park slough. You can probably find some panfish but bass fishing was really bad.

I will be heading here this whole up coming weekend, I personally have never been here but my other buddy has.

Any reports or action ?

I brought up a map and I see a few miles north is the meeting point of the two rivers, cool stuff I can't wait !
