Had pretty good success fishing bluegills and perch the last couple of trips.  The river is still high and pretty dirty, but river predictions show a 3 foot drop in the next week.  That will put the fish on the move!  Hopefully no more big rain events and we can salvage some good fishing the rest of this season.  The water temp is right around 80 degrees.

Thanks for reading my reports and have a great weekend!

Here is a link to an article on the railroad crossing issue. It ran in the Sunday Milwaukee Sentinel. You may have to copy and paste it to your browser.

Never ice fished this area but id like to those jumbo target perch on the back waters. Are people still ice fishing over the slow current areas? Is the ice too unsafe? I live an hour away so i have no idea.

Fished below Lynxville dam, got on the water around 9am, only two other boats in view all day.  Landing had ice for the first 20 feet or so,  had to break thru it to get into the open water.  Fished varying depths from 10 to 30ft, marked some fish but the bite was shut right down.  Tried minnows and plastics but no takers.  Water temp was 38.5 - 39 when we arrived,  35.5 - 36 when we left.   Strong wind out of the North made boat control a hassle.  Fished for about 5 hours with no fish to show.

Fished yesterday afternoon on Pool 10.  River levels have fallen into the mid 9 foot level and the water temperature was 40 degrees.  Weeds were a problem with lots of leaves in the water also.  If you could keep your jig clean, the fish were biting!  We boated this beauty along with some very nice saugers in the 17 inch range.  Hair jigs with minnows.

A few cold, windy days to close out this week, but forecasts say back in the mid 40's for next week.  Should have some good fishing.  Hope so, cause not ready to park the boat yet!

Fair enough.  Wasn't really thinking of it that way, but point well taken.

I would try right where you decide to launch, and go from there. Look , i have not fished there yet either, but if i was to, i wouldnot just come out and say, " hey im tryin to get a one up on the next guy, so that my son doesnt have to work for the outcome," there is enough of that in the workforce allready today, alot of people want everything handed to them. If i were you i would prefish it like anyone else that does tourneys, just like the next guy has.  Fishing is a combination of trial ,error, patience, frustration, and grattitude, along with hard work and sometimes blood sweat, and tears, follow these guidelines, and the bounty is worth the wait. Just sayin, good fishin to all that live to love, and love to fish. Teamone.

My son will be fishing his first FLW college tournament out of Prairie du Chien in early October.  Neither he nor I have fished here before, any suggestions on how/where to go after bass in early Oct?

Thanks!
