Looking for a productive ice fishing lake. I bring my wife and kids- 2 daughters and son-on a half week trip each year. Found a cottage on this lake that looks nice on the south-west end. Any info would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

The smallmouth fishing on this lake is pretty good. Fished here last August and caught quite a few even with terrible weather. Try casting craw colored cranks on shorelines. You can also work plastics shallow around the islands. (tubes, senkos, craws) I used the Gary Yamamoto baby craws in rootbeer and pumpkin. Work them slowly. You will also have a good chance at a musky. Real good population in this lake. Not a whole lot of size though. I attached a map of with arrows pointing at good spots to pick up some bass. It nothing happening there then just work the shorelines. Its a small lake and you should be able to figure it out quickly.

Good luck and enjoy

I see not much posted activity for this lake.  I will be on this lake with my two kids ages 15 and 10 for the next couple days and would really like to keep them busy catching something.  This is there first real "up north" fishing excursion so if anyone has any recent info they could share it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Correct. Private. One of the resorts would let you pay for access at one time, but I was told they stopped allowing that a few years ago. Their is a creek that runs out or the lake and in the summer you can throw a canoe in and paddle into the lake. Also, the state owns all of the land on a point on the south side of the lake. Technically there is walk-in access here, but the guy who lives on the cul-de-sac there pushes his snow so high that it would be nearly impossible to carry your gear over the snow bank, then through the woods, and onto the lake. When in doubt about access, call the local DNR office. I have a friend who has access to the lake and he says you aren't missing anything this winter.

Went up last weekend 5-13-5-18 the weather was cold and at times windy. Water temp was in the mid to high 50's. We ended up catching 7 smallies and had one ski follow to the boat on a #5 mepps. Water was still cold but we caught a nice smallie on a hook and minnow. We stayed at Driftwood and on the last day while pulling the boat out of the water we seen an adult black bear right by the launch in the front yard of someone's picture window. We made a loud roar and he ran back into the woods, wish I had a camera at the time. We also saw 2 eagles which was cool. Next time I go up I will book after Memorial day weekend, hopefully the fishing will be a bit better and the buoy's will be out.

Careful of those shollow rock ledges it's a killer on the prop!!! Angry

I will be heading up to this lake next week for the opener. I have been going to this lake for years. I heard they were getting a lot of panfish right up to ice out, which happenend last saturday i do believe. I will be able to tell you more when i get back a week from Sunday. I am mostly a muskie fisherman, however that season doesnt open till end of May, so I will be checking the walleye situation until then.
