All the Trempealeau Lakes are hit or miss including Long Lake. This lake is small but can prodcue nice catches of fish if your timing is right. Catch a bunch of fish one day and they are gone the next. This lake, like the other Trempealeau Lakes, have outlets to the Mississippi River so fish are free to move in and out. If you dont catch them in one lake try another and you may be pleasantly surprised. The ice thickness is good but there is a creek that runs into the lake from the south that does create very unstable ice, watch out for thin ice in that area! I catch a variety of species on this particular outing! Good luck out there!

Fished Saturday and Sunday (12th & 13th) without much action. I did catch some nice perch, but not one tip up. Most the people I talked with also say slow and were moving to Round or 3rd lake. Not sure if much better there but did see people on all the lakes last weekend.
21° - 25° F
Fished this weekend and it was slow. Moved to Round lake and still slow.
6° - 10° F
I was out on Long Sunday for about 4 hrs. Little slow but by 1pm the gills started eating. For about an hour and a half every time I put my jig down teh hole a gill hit. Caught about 30+ fish, with 8 keepers. Lot of sortting, but fun time with the kids. Saw a big northern through the hole and only got two small bits on minnows. Waxes and jigs was the best. Hope to get back out next weekend for some more fun. See you on the ice!
