Fished Lake Alice from Friday 8/9-8/12 Panfish were shallow in 2-4 feet of water. Kept it simple with Crawler piece on a small circle hook below a1/8 oz. sinker and a Rocket bobber. Sunday I cast top water lures ( Buzz Bait with a Rubber Frog and a Scum Frog with Paddle Tail legs) at the lily pad edges in 6-8 feet of water lots of action but little to show other 6 Northerns 18-30 inches all CPR.

Headed up to Lake Alice in two weeks. How has the fishing been? I heard the Northern and Musky fishing hasn't been the same in recent years, is this true? How are the weeds so far this year?
Hey Musky Man,
How did it go? Any luck?
The comment about the importance of releasing big male bluegills was great. I never knew that until last year. I practice it now. Makes sense that they drive the gene pool just like males in many species.
Whatever selective harvest and catch and release system you choose, it is great for any body of water. With the technology and equipment fishermen have now its important to realize the negative impact we can have on future fish populations and size quality.

A friend of mine who is familiar with the area told me that nobody will make a map of Lake Alice because of the stumps. They do not want to be liable. Also, you will not find Lake Alice on your Lakemaster chip for the same reason. From my experience, if you really stay in the middle of the river channel, you are almost ok. Venture off or miss a turn and bad things can happen. I think Lake Alice has great potential, but I feel much safer out on Nokomis. JMO.
I fish lake Alice a lot because my in-laws live up there. The only map I could find was a hand drawn one (which was actually pretty good considering) so a few years ago I started logging data. Type ‘c-map genesis’ into google and click on the social map. There was another guy uploading data too so the map looks pretty good now. You’ll probably need to create an account to download the map but it’s free. Drive slow, just because you’re in 20 fow doesn’t mean you won’t hit a stump out there :)

Not a Report, just wondering if anyone has ideas where to get a detailed lake map from ? I tried Fishing Hot Spots online but couldnt find it anywhere on there ? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, been practicing selective harvest for quite a few years now it just feels better.
