Got out on Tuesday, marked a few but no takers. All still suspended over the deep. Need some warmer water I think.
51° - 55° F
Caught more bluegill and sunfish this winter than crappie. Nothing huge but the keepers were thick for their size. Small lake, very deep, four 30' basins. Can be difficult to locate fish.
Are there decent size crappies in this lake?
Does anyone know if the driveway into the lake is still plowed shut. Need to know if I should bring a shovel tomorrow.
I haven’t fished here in a couple years, but if you got straight off the landing, about 1/3 of the way to the other end, there’s a nice house on top of the hill to the right. There’s a steep drop off their landing with some weeds. I’ve caught some decent perch there. Not a lot, but a few. I’ve never had a great fishing day in the winter, but it’s a beautiful lake.
Thanks fishrun and koschkee1991. I really appreciate the help and info.
Thanks koschkee. Ive never tried to get back to bahr lake ice fishing. Ive only ice fished the first bay with the landing and the second bay of korth.
Turkey, I've never been back in Bahr Lake in summer or winter. The channel is really shallow and don't know how well it would freeze over. It's a small pond that drops quickly to 45' in the middle. Not sure if it's worth the effort to get back there. The main parts of the lake have three 30' + flats. Keep moving and you'll find fish suspended. Like I said, it's a tough bite. They come up to a lure or bait really slow and just look at it.
Be careful going through the channel. Not deep, but I’ve never made it through without dropping in. And you can’t really make it through on land. Thick brush.
Fish run just curious as to the ice thickness and if you traveled to the back of the lake or stayed in the landing bay
