Water level way down, maybe 2 feet, so access tough. $5. entrance fee.
Found 21 feet of water. Water temp 80F.
Tons of small bluegills. Largest of 50 caught at only 6.5 inches.
A handful of bullheads and a few small pike.
Went out with a few friends this afternoon. Tried the north side and fished literally from 5 feet to 25 feet. Was one group on the south side and another showed up for maybe an hour. Both left not long after we got there. I assume they had the same luck as us. 4 jigs in the water, 7 tip-ups out, using 2 flashers and a camera...not even a bite over a few hours before the snow. Have had decent luck with northern especially, in the past but like many other lakes around, the bite seems to be a tough go. Not sure what else to do or try.
Fished about 3 hours today. Jaw-Jacker nailed a small pike right off the bat then quiet for awhile. Even the tiny gills were tight lipped today. Drilled about 10 holes, nothing but very small fish on the cam. Ended up getting bites with a sideways jigging action. I won't complain about catching a few fish but they were all dinks.
7" in all my holes. Very solid ice. Same small gill bite, fun to pass the time but only a couple keepers for 20 shorts depending how picky you are. Few flags but nothing landed. Guys were landing northerns but not many or no legals.
Standard small gills last night. Fun and annoying bite. If you were fishing Friday Jan 15th and left the ice around 4 and are missing a piece of equipment I have it. Can get it back to you. No more ice than last weekend be careful was some thin ice out there last weekend
Celtic, the access for this lake is actually not public. The farm on the corner there - you drive up their driveway and up to the lake. The boat launch is there. Last time I was there was a good ten years ago and I think it was 2 or 3 bucks - no idea how much it is anymore though. Many, many years ago we parked on the road and went through a short stretch of woods to access the lake. There's no parking on the road anymore though.
I've driven by here and always wondered about fishing Hope Lake, but didn't see any public access or parking. Any advice?
was ther any size to the panfish
Fished 130-4 today, got 1 bite on a tip-up with a fathead but didn't land it. Group next to me was catching bass and panfish left and right in the deep hole.
Wondering if anyone’s been out and knows the ice conditions
