I will be passing through the area this Saturday 9/28/19. I am looking for a place to stop and fish for a few hours in the morning with my dad. We will have a canoe and I am wondering if Hope is worth checking out and where/how to access the lake. The other 2 lakes I am looking at are Rock Lake and Ripley. I would prefer a smaller lake though since we have limited time and a canoe.
Has anybody been out lately that can give a ice report
A few years ago when you could park on the road and walk on and become part of a mini city the fishing was spectaculiar.Decent gills in the shallows, large pike and bass on shiners.Lake was over fished. Now that there is NO public access other than paying to use the private access, there has been less pressure but more winter kill and more fish being removed. You want quality fishing again?Convince the farmer to shut down the access for a few years to let Hope rebound and set strict regulations on limits and size.Plenty of good fishing with in a few miles of Hope.
No hope for Hope Lake? I think it will recover in a few years. These freezeout lakes are always cyclical. I've seen Hope crash and recover a couple times in my life already. I'm 58 years old
I went here on Saturday. Fishing was horrible. Not a scare tactic- it really was that bad. Unless you like catching dink perch that is. I know I don’t. Ice was about 2” on the south end and 4” on the north end. One area of the deep hole had literally just frozen and was unsafe. Maybe 20 guys out there, didn’t see barely anything caught all day.
Has Hope bounced back yet? Might not be worth your drive either way.
Fished this lake today. Catch and release with some folks caught. Honestly this lake would heal alot faster if the ice fishermen didn't keep every fish they catch
Just wandering if the farmer has it open for fishing
