Nice to see lots of people out on the ice - took my kids for the first time ice fishing and while we didn't get the results we were looking for, it was great to be back on the ice. Seems the lake is tougher to fish than in summer
11° - 15° F
Does anyone know where to get live bait [wax worms / minnows] - looking to take some kids out as soon as the ice is safe and having trouble finding bait - thanks
Anybody been out on Hasmer this season yet? Thinking about giving it a try tomorrow morning.
Has anyone checked how the ice is coming yet?
We ended up getting a few good sized gills from the deeper weed edge. My son is only 6 and did great in the canoe. Not sure I will go back though. It was apparent that this lake gets fished hard.
Good luck! I haven't been there in years. It does get deep in the middle. Just cast the weed edges and you should be able to pick up some fish.
headed here this afternoon with my son for the first time. Taking the canoe down so we can move around.
This lake is a great small lake to take some children or grandchildren bobber fishing as the action is great from small bluegills and some bass. We have also caught some perch and crappies too! They have a long pier and a short pier to accommodate most people at various times. They also have a small swimming/wading area with the weeds cleared away for some shallow wading. They also have a porta potty for all.
The area marked with the cones is where Jackson Fire Department cut a hole to do ice rescue training.
