I wouldn't consider this spot a gravel pit but I made it out to a little hole on the southside of EC that I've been eye-ing up for a few years now. Was hoping to find some deeper water, but deepest hole I found was 8'. Marked what I am assuming were minnows/bait fish from 4-6' in every hole I drilled in the deepest portion of the lake. Might have had a nibble at one point, but no fish. I'm guessing it freezes out every year. Checked it off my list of places to try at least.

Isn't there a different construction company that owns a big portion of it...Mathy maybe? The other chunk is the Taylor Creek development area, not sure who actually owns that or if it is accessible to the public. I looked into these pits last season and it looked to me that you can access the one closest to the bike trail, but the properties are split up in a way that makes getting to the other ones difficult (not impossible) without trespassing. Don't quote me on any of this though.

Doesn't American Materials own this pond and the land adjacent to it?

Went out to the middle 10ft of water pretty universal within 100yd radius. Tried minnows, shiners and waxies. NOTHING!!! They would look at the presentation then swim back down to the bottom.

I fished it a few times a couple of winters ago.  Bunch of really small crappies.  This is dangerous ice.  There are many springs and with the water levels changing with the river it can be sketchy at times.  I've actuall done really well at times in on perch and crappies in the actuall river back water just accross the bike path from the gravel pit.

I'm sure this pond is good in the summer but it's junk ass in the winter. Walked the mile back there and went through the culvert twice now and drilled a total of about 300 holes with my marcum dropping in all of them and all I caught was 5 inch crappies here and there. Absolutely no structure, depth around shore is is about 15-20ft, basin about 10-14 couple 25-30ft holes by sandbar.

I've fished it plenty of times this summer.  Caught walleye, catfish, freshwater drum, crappie, bluegill, smallmouth bass, and pike.  Never fished it in winter yet, but plan to this coming winter.  Access is limited to by the culverts on the bike trail.  There some 23 foot holes in spots.  I haven't mapped the entire pond, but its actually about 100 acres total.

Hey guys this is a new thread for the gravel pits just south of Eau Claire off Hwy 37. I was wondering if people Ice fish these ponds? I fish them in the summer some but was wondering if anyone spends any time on the ice here.

Honestly im not sure how safe the ice on these pits are. Ill be checking it out this weekend. Ill let yall know how it goes.

If anyone fishes the gravel pits in the winter feel free to leave a posting!!!

Thanks Cronk

Be Safe and Good Fishin!!!!!

PS if you reference the Wisconsin DNR lake finder youll find this gravel pit as "un-named lake 27 acres. Its does not list any species or depth but I know for a fact its pretty damn deep and theres panfish in there. im sure there is northern and whatever else is swimming in the mighty Chip!!
