Fished the first Sunday of deer season and their was almost 4 inches of good clear ice then. Can only imagine their is more. This was off the point and in front of the house.

That was December 28th. Right after Christmas. I remember how crappy that seemed right after the holiday.
Think it's been 2 years ago now. 2 guys drowned. One guy was like 76 years old.
I don't know about going dead the first week/first ice, but my cousin did well on some nice gills Saturday(12/1). He was the one fishing there when the two guys fell thru and drowned. He knew the one older guy real well. He had left that day less than a 1/2 before they drowned. Shook him up as far as First Ice and Ice Fishing, so he hasn't tread out the very first ice since.
How are they biting guys?
True mail-man...its good like 1st week when ice freezes over.. after that its pretty dead.. i havent tried late late ice when its warming up though..i was on it when ice was 3-4 inches.. the week after it was dead.. some pikes on tip up but very slow
I heard that Glen Loch is only good during early ice then is dead. Guys go down through the Ojibwa parking lot to the bay next to golf course. Only like 3 feet deep but supposed to be good for bluegill. They forage the vegetation early then move deep.
