Fished down at Sunset Park in Kimberly for about 3 hours on this past Sunday evening.
Caught a few snaller fish ( a quarter pd smallie and a couple pd sheepshead and then landed these two nice channel cats. Caught one on an ultralight setup that was huge fun to land.
Hope everyone has lots of fun.
Fished for an hour and a half this afternoon after a rough morning on the lake to try and redeem myself. It didnt happen. Ended up with 7 little smallies, a 12ish inch pike and a flathead on a tube. Water is still really moving for midsummer and is pretty green.
Stopped on the way home from Little Lake this morning. Current is up, visibility is down. Pretty dirty and pretty fast. A few little (under 10") smallies in the fast water. Nothing anywhere else. Lost a bigger one on a Texas rigged craw. Never saw it though. Pretty slow
Stopped for an hour or so on the way home from work this afternoon. 11 smallies, all under 12" and a sheepshead. Warm water with not much current has the bigger fish out deeper. Maybe I will drop the kayak in over the next couple days and see if I can find them.
Since it didnt rain like the weather guy called for, I just went out and screwed around for about an hour. VERY windy but the fish were moving. Hard to keep bottom contact so I threw a whopper plopper for a little while, picked up 2, 14 and 17". Its pretty cool watching them run the bait down in shallow water. I got the 17 in less than a foot of water and its back was completely out of the water charging toward my bait. Very cool!
Water is moving pretty good for being July! Stopped down last night for like an hour in the heat, caught 4 quick smallies on a buzzbait. No size, biggest was maybe 13"
FOUND: aluminum canoe. It was pulled ashore in Telulah Park. Brought it home for safekeeping so no kids could play in it. Identify it and I will gladly return it to you. PM me for phone number.
Foremost property is open to the public again? That is great news. Always loved fishing for catfish there.
76° - 80° F
Been going down by the old Foremost location pretty frequently lately. Been catching a lot of smaller 8-10'' smallmouth on tubes this year, my best so far is 15''. Also catch the usual sheep head.
I was fishing a few Sundays ago and was suprised the DNR was down there checking licences.
On Friday night I brought down my new bait casting reel to get the feel of it throwing a Texas rigged senko and couldn't believe I hooked up this just under 30'' nothern, by far my best fish on the Fox ever!
