I normally fish plum but I'd like to try this lake for perch gills and crappies.  Heading up Thursday.  If anyone has any tips fire away.  When the fish turn off on plum I want a decent plan b.

Drove past it yesterday, the lot is plowed, but limited space.  Saw evidence of snowmobiles traveling.  Not having gone on it, go on with caution.  No ice is safe ice.

Ok thanks much fellas for the report! I would imagine the ice will be fine and the fish are hungry for next weekend the 25th if the weather stays cold!

Drove by last week on the snowmobile and the parking lot was still not plowed and didnt look like much activity there.  I'm guessing it wont get plowed since they wouldn't want to chance breaking through and getting stuck.  Its going to be almost carry in only in summer since the water was so high last year and you could almost not launch without sinking your truck in water.  Not worth it.

Winter now it seems to be the only time to get in there. Water levels so high, there is no parking lot, only lake water.

The last yime I looked just before Christmas, snow pack blocked the entrance. May have changed by now.

skidoo4920, call the Forest Lake Country store and talk to Mark. He can help you, I haven't fished that lake in over a decade. Better yet, stop in there and have some breakfast, their food is very good.

Can anyone give me an ice report on this lake, how has the pan fishing been on the hard water? Any help would be greatly appreciated planning on a trip up the end of January to do some fishing. Thanks in advance

I fished here Sat Jan. 23. Usually venture across main lake to fish in the little bay but there was no sign of any travel across the lake. On foot, I test drilled my way out towards the middle and had consistent 9" and then it dropped from 9" down to 4" in 20 steps so I gave up on that idea. There is snomo/quad travel to the west of the island where everybody fishes with a few slush pockets. No trucks as of yet. Snow wasn't very deep so didn't bog down wherever I encountered slush under untracked snow with snowmobile. There were some dark spots out over the main basin that seemed to get more pronounced as the day wore on. The spot I opted to fish didn't produce at all, only marked one fish from noon to 8:30 p.m. Usually do well there but I think the sudden winds that kicked up mid day put the fish in a dormant mood.
