Native Americans for the most part do not spear their own reservation lakes. It is done off reservation hence the name, off reservation treaty rights. The exception to this appears to be in Sawyer county where Courte Oreilles and Grindstone are speared. You can get the annual reports or data by calling the Madison DNR and they will send you the PDF files for every lake that was speared year by year and species by species.
Coming up Friday for 10 days and staying at the campground on Flambeau lake. Just wondering how the musky bite has been lately? Thanks for any info.
i have been fishing the flambeau chain for the past 3 years and was just recently inquiring into spearing information. I have found lots of spearing information but havent seen anything on this chain. Is that possible no spearing is happening on this chain. As far as fishing is concerned little crawling and interlocken seem to be my best success but havent fished pokegama much...
Have been coming up to Fence a week every spring for the last 8 years or so. Haven't done much on any panfish. i did get a few decent perch last year.. maybe they are starting a comeback
Good report. I've never fished the Flambeau Chain before, but will be doing so since my son bought a place on Fence Lake. Do any of the lakes hold decent numbers of crappie? I've heard Fence used to have a great perch population, but they are almost non existent anymore. Comments?.
As of today 49-51 degree water temps. A few green weeds starting to show in the bays of smaller lakes. Water level is the highest I have ever seen with lots of current in the channels. Roadside ditches are full of water. If it ever does warm up we might be in for the mother of all Mosquito hatches !!
Any recent reports, weed growth....water temp? Musky opener right around the corner just wondering where things are at.
