Have been coming up to Fence a week every spring for the last 8 years or so. Haven't done much on any panfish. i did get a few decent perch last year.. maybe they are starting a comeback

Good report. I've never fished the Flambeau Chain before, but will be doing so since my son bought a place on Fence Lake.  Do any of the lakes hold decent numbers of crappie? I've heard Fence used to have a great perch population, but they are almost non existent anymore. Comments?.

As of today 49-51 degree water temps.  A few green weeds starting to show in the bays of smaller lakes.  Water level is the highest I have ever seen with lots of current in the channels.  Roadside ditches are full of water.  If it ever does warm up we might be in for the mother of all Mosquito hatches !!

Hey everyone,

Just wondering if I could get some water condition reports for the chain.  Just wondering if anyone was out for opener and what water temps are looking like.  Will be up this weekend for bass.  Thank you and tight lines

Fished Flambeau, Big Crawling, and Pokegama last weekend. Water temps 57-59 with small bays peaking near 60. May fly hatch is on and they are everywhere. Bass are in full swing with good northern action as well. Crank baits and wacky worms worked best. Walleye were slow and the little time we targeted Pan fish resulted in no fish (Surprisingly). Water levels in channels seem similar to last years. Bait shop at the camp ground is open as is the launch. Things to be ahead of last season with the earlier ice out This year. New walleye size limits this year so check The postings at launches and watch the regulations. Happy fishing!

Water good on most lakes in the area... Mannie Chain is always low this time of year if we don't get the right snow runoff or any rain, which is the case this year... That doesn't mean that there aren't other bodies of water that aren't low as there are seepage lakes that still haven't recovered.
