Up in Antigo for the weekend and it was too nice a day on Saturday so went up to Enterprise with my brother-in-law from 2:30 - 5:30 pm. Walked out from the landing and fished off the point north of the island on the west end, 12 - 17 FOW. Marked fish on bottom regularly and caught perch on spikes but everything was 6" or less so released them. Also had 2 tip ups out but no flags. Ice was good including the shoreline at the landing; there were 3 or 4 vehicles out, including trucks. Earlier reports mentioned water and slush but we didn't encounter any. Did see where it looked like there was but it either soaked thru or re-froze. Snow depth wasn't too bad but was crusted. Ice depth was 20 - 22" in the area that we were fishing.
There is slush and water 4 plus inches on most lakes around Antigo and north ;(
Nasty slushy mess with crappy soft ice. I'd stay off.
Any reports on how much snow and ice is on the lake?
How is the snow/slush out there?
Will be fishing tomorrow afternoon and possibly into the night for walleyes anything happening out here lately? TIA
I did not fish today, but I was checking out the conditions on a Langlade County lake, but not Enterprise. I was able to drive my 4wheeler on most of the lake- eastside was too deep of snow. The lake I was on had 15 inches of ice 10 inches of snow- however a few spots I drilled, I had 3to 4 inches of soft ice, then1to2 inches of water then 12 inches of ice. I am glad I didn't drive my truck out there
I didn’t get near the landing, we were staying at friends cabin, ventured out from there. not sure what to tell you about truck access, after what I saw, don’t think it’s possible. I didn’t drive the entire lake. We did manage to find a couple of dry spots but it was worse Sunday. There was possibly a truck, or side by side fishing the west end of lake sat. Couldn’t tell, didn’t care enough to go look. couldn’t agree more on fishing reports. we fished it New Year’s Day, there were 20 trucks parked at landing, I’ve never seen that much traffic in a week, let alone 1 day. Caught 1perch, 1 tiny walleye. Simply driving traffic away from Pelican?
We're they still driving trucks out or is not accessible anymore due to the slush?
Below 0° F
Report from weekend. Fish we marked were very finicky. Sat morning- nothing. Sat afternoon 2 small perch. Sun. Afternoon, 1 crappie. I think Otter Box caught them all. ??
Biggest issue is all of the slush under the recent snowfall. We encountered slush almost everywhere. Sleds were freezing up making it difficult to get off the lake. Thought it would have been better on Sunday with the -20 temps sat night, it wasn’t.
Take care, be safe.
Was out a couple weekends ago (1/23) and went for pike and walleye. Only one pike flag all day (9AM-3PM), and then set up for eyes. Jigged up a few small perch. Had a decent amount of flags, but only were catching 8-10 inch walleye. Fish seemed pretty finicky, but doesn't help when people are doing donuts on the ice in trucks either. Hoping to get up next weekend with wife to try it again.
