Caught this 41muskie 2 years ago
Hey guys, I know there are some veterans of this area of the Embarrass that check in. I just started fishing it last year (the stretch below the dam) and really enjoyed it but was wondering what the early season was like on the river. I assume no smallies this early but wondering if the northern or possibly walleye run in the Spring. Any feed back would be welcome.
Hello - I just moved to Embarrass. Does anyone ever fish this portion of the Embarrass river? Spent an hour or two casting small spinnerbaits and no hits. The water is super clear! I didn't see any fish though, other than a sturgeon that jumped out of the water right in front of me and scared the crap out of me.
When Haymon flowage was still there we caught pike up to 30in.Below Pella around 25in.
I’ve fished that area well over 100 times and the largest pike I’ve seen was around 26”. CARPIO
Great morning with my brother wading on the river. A pretty nice sized northern of close to 24 inches, a handful of decent smallies and a surprise 17 inch walleye all on ultralight for great fights. We were fishing not too far from Pella-- does anyone know how big the northern get in this area of the river?
Actual crawfish? Didn’t notice any or few deer flies. Beautiful 2 weather days to be in kayak on the water with catching fish to interrupt my time. No one else around was a plus. Couple of eagles, hawks and some cackling cranes.
How’s the rusty crawfish population! They used to be everywhere! Just like the deer flies! CARPIO Lol.
Returned for another day of kayak fishing. Few less bass and drum, another tasty walleye and several pike. Pike must have been hungry. Swallowed lure and fought hard. Last one I caught was around 26 and had minor surgery removing lure. Considered keeping, but seemed ok with swimming away. Fun 2 days on the water
Caught several small mouth bass today, couple were in the 20” range. Fun to catch and released. Was in the New London area. Water level is still pretty good for August. I’ve fished the Embarrass for many years. Some years were great for fishing, some not.
