Elkhart Lake (Big Elkhart)

Basically a general summer report here to comment on the previous question. I've had no action on topwater lures for Musky. I've raised several fish and got followed to boat side on other presentations, but can't connect.   Every time out I feel closer, but still a puzzle to put it all together.  Boat traffic on weekends usually pushes us off the water, so I'm not putting in full days casting either.

Caught some bluegills on crawlers with the kids and some small bass on plastics throughout the year. 

Hopefully I can connect with a Musky here this fall, be happy to report back.

we got a few in the mid 30's largest being 43" using bucktails this summer and a few follow-ups looked to be mid 40's, we have not tried live baits yet this year.

Anyone have any success on Elkhart with surface (topwater) lures for muskies? 

fished with son yesterday in all depths.....southwest shoreline produced a lot of keeper gills and bass.....drifting accross deep water got 2 eyes and outside  beach area of the resort was producing some nice crappie

I drove by yesterday and the lake is 99% ice covered.

Any update on conditions after this weeks warm-up/rain? Thanks!

Gotcha. Hoping to get out Friday and try dialing in livescope. Local rivers are a muddy mess.

Be careful if you head out on the main lake, there are spots to watch out for.  Saw a few carp on the camera yesterday,  some I would gestimate over 30 pounds.  Absolutely giants
