Fished that stretch water was low and dropping fishing was terrible, but kayaking should be awesome. Not sure why they were dropping the water so much but was nice out lost about a pint of blood to mosquitoes.
Thinking of kayaking on 8-12-20 from Pump house Road boat landing up to the dam.
How is the water running currently?
What type of fish can I expect to find there?
Any advice regarding conditions and/or fishing in that area would be sincerely appreciated! Also if there is anything I need to be aware of please let me know…
Thank you Chippman. I was wondering if it was worth bad enough to do some fishing for cats, but sounds like I'll have to wait a bit longer to do that. I was planning on going up to Jim Falls, but I am sure it's probably similar to Chippewa Fall as well. Thanks again for the report.
Four gates wide open and river is chocolate colored looks like spring flood crazy weather won't be fishing the river for a few days.
No problem just have to be careful up by the Dam where the big rocks are always makes me nervous going thru there, water levels good.
Thanks for the report chippman, i dont see too many river reports from the EC/Chipp area. With regular water levels how easy is it to navigate up to the dam?
Fished after the Packer game up by the Dam went through a scoop of minnows caught 11 channel cats and about a dozen walleyes . cats all 2 to 3 pounds and eyes 10 or 111 inches long. Non stop action until dark then it slowed most on the rod with 4lb test and small plain jig a few on lindy rig with fluorocarbon. Chippman

made it out for a few hours last night found a lot of water coming down gate were tripped with water coming down the overflow channel. Also allot of water coming from the dam also being alone was a little to squirrelly to go up by dam. found a slack water area where the two currents meet had non stop action until well past sunset lost count at 20 eyes all under 12 inches lost a few bigger ones at the boat. Ran out of minnows in an hour but they hit twisters and gulp also. With the high flow even the 1775 Lund was getting pushed around and squirming but nice night to be out.
Put my 16' Northwoods in at the pumphouse landing without to much trouble. Can get pretty close to wissota dam if you are careful and stay left. were out this weekend, lots of small walleye and some really nice cats. Crawlers out fished minnows. Seen some big sturgeon jumping but have never caught one on that stretch.
Dumped my 16' deep v in there all the time. The chanel runs right by the landing you will have no problems though near shore can be a bit problematic because there is no dock. Shorts and water shoes will work. What an awesome spot for fishing but only if you like cats, smallys, walleye and musky
