Aquaholic, nothing special out there, it's almost all 3 feet deep with an approximately 6 foot hole out near the island.  I found it with my boat one year.   It can be hit or miss for the bluegills and crappie out there.  Sometimes there are some nice ones out there, other times it's mostly small fish.  Some holes are better than others, so be prepared to do a lot of hole hopping until you find them.  The ice will look like swiss cheese out there cause it has been a popular spot this year already...it always is like that at first ice because it's one of the first places to freeze in the Madison area. I've had some luck with northern out there but there's a 40 inch minimum because it's considered part of the Lake Mendota water, so it's mainly catch and release.  For crappie try right at sunrise with tip downs and minnows. Bluegill I do best with purple ice jigs.  Some days plastics are better than live bait, but bring both.  Hope this helps!

Nice fish being caught at the marsh. Gotta get out there early morning to get the nice gills and sort through the crappies. A lot of small crappies being caught but nice ones in the mix.

Sat Monday evening for a couple of hours with no flags and a few soft bites but no luck. Ice gets a bit thinner as you leave the lake area, but may be better today as the slush was freezing when we left.

Went out yesterday for an hour. Handful of guys out, the bite was super slow. Some areas were frozen slush, didnt walk on it. Ice did get a little thicker the farther I went out but not by much. Managed to spot fox tracks that were fresh. Keep your lines tight.

I was hoping to search around the Madison area tomorrow. Wondering if Cherokee was fishable. Just need to know if the ice is ok there. Haven't seen any reports lately.
