Petezzzza:

Catitude was using the cheese formula... me? Always the blood formula. I figure the bite will be tough on the Corridor in the days ahead... because the kitty cats are BURSTING with MAYFLIES! :-0

Things will settle down soon and Triple S again will be cat slayin'...

Were you guys using triple S for bait? I was out for a couple hours last night and caught one on triple S and nothing on cut bait. Probably should just use triple S only for now. Mayflies aren’t quite that crazy up in the Wausau area yet. Thanks

Fun little evening cattin' session with LL's Catitude (Rick)... and we managed a 2 man limit... but not before a July BLIZZARD of MAYFLIES descended upon us!!! We believe that ALL FISH on this stretch of the WI River will be in a FEEDING FRENZY for the next couple of days!

Happy Cattin', All!

After a 10 month hiatus I was able to put the boat back in the water.  My buddy caught his personal and my boats personal best flathead at 53 pounds from the Wisconsin River.  It hit a piece of dead cut sucker that had been floating around in the bait cooler for a couple of hours.  We ran six rod with a bit of each: live bait, fresh cut bait and it hit a long since dead piece of cut bait.  One never knows right?

I was not born into catfishing.  I have no idea how I ended up here but I do need to thank a few of you for the info you have passed along to me over the years from regular posts and some private messages.  Last year we caught a 47 pounder.  And I caught one 43 pounds.  Can I get a 60?  Probably never.  Sure as all get out I will try.  And that magical moment in May when the water hits 60 degrees and the channel cats just go silly billy is some of the most fun a guy can have.  Thanks to all for the help, and I hope I can return the favor some day.

River ottered Crawdaddy's new spot with......wait for it...... CANEPOLE!!!!!  Super hoot!  Got two in ten minutes or so before getting eaten alive by mosquitoes.  Experimental SSS fiber cheese a foot under a bobber was on the menu.

Hit the Corridor in Point for an hour or two.  Tried all new spots.  First 3?  Nothing.  Then found some nice logs to fish near… floated bait up close with a bobber… game on.  Caught 15 between 7-8am.  Off to farmer market for some produce… Bait of choice today?  Punch.  Used both Berkley Power Punch and some Stick It by Magic Bait.  Equally effective. Cheese flavor.

Did the yearly pilgrimage north to the Fox River near DePere, WI with LL's very own Marvin1965 and Marvin's son. Pitched Triple S, Marvin's homemade bait concoctions and various types of cut bait at the monsters of the deep. Slow AM but we managed to boat 3 channel cats: a 6 pounder and two 11 pounders! We've fished here in the past and there are 20 pound channel cats swimmin' these waters... a sport fisherman's paradise! :-)

Good times with good people... and a few big cats were wrangled, too (a WIN/ WIN situation!!!) :-)

Tight Lines, All!

Had not tried for cats since May 2.  Had some unexpected free time today… Hmmm, what to do?  Took the kayak and hit the Corridor in Stevens Point.  First 3 casts? Snag, snag, and….. yup snag.  So, I tied up a bobber rig baited with some cheese Berkley Power Punch and flipped it into an eddy… 10 seconds later?  Fish on!  The instant rush of adrenaline from feeling the tug?  Still addictive.  About 2 hours later?  Finished up with a blackjack 21 morning.  Not bad for out of the kayak for first time..

Yup... I GLOP ON Triple S with the free paint stirring stick from Fleet Farm! You can even make the bait tubes outta tubing from Fleet Farm! Triple S is great stuff, but it is a TAD messy! Frankly, I've gone NOSE BLIND to the stuff over the years... which probably speaks VOLUMES regarding my SMELLING ability! ;-0

Petezzaaa,

I use a butter knife, smooth handle for easier wiping.  Litguy uses a paint stirring stick for maximum glopage!!!  This is the tube from Fleet that Litguy mentioned.
