Stayed at the lake for a week on our annual camping vacation. Gamefish were hard to come by for me. Only smaller smallmouth. Some others in our group had some good fortune though.
Stayed at Franklin for a week. Bass fishing was O.K., but you really had to work for them. I am not the best fisherman, but I cant find panfish in this lake for the last several years. Does someone have a heads up on what may be causing this. I know over harvesting can have a big effect on a lake. But I have not even caught a little dink. Seems like maybe more to it.
Anyone been out on these two? Water temps would be nice to know. Thanks!
Anyone ice fish these two lately? How’s the bite, ice, and/or travel conditions?
56° - 60° F
66° - 70° F
Fished Butternut and Franklin on the 19th and 20th. Smallmouth action was pretty good on both lakes, fish were up in 4-8 ft of water. Caught them on a variety of baits including jerk baits, tubes, spinnerbaits, rattletraps, crankbaits. The best action was on spinnerbaits and jerkbaits. Average size on butternut was 3-4lbs with the largest being 4.5lbs. Average size on Franklin was 2-3 lbs. All in all a couple good days of fishing.
Any report on water temps for either lake? PM would be great, thanks!
Thanks for the info.
I never had a problem with my 20 ft Lund. It just a little shallow going out. On years when water is low.
If memory serves me, it has been a shallow launch. Depending on your rig, you may have to wade in a bit to hook it up.
