I've fished this lake many, many times, albeit always prior to 15 years ago. There used to be a honor system primitive campground right at the dam /boat launch. Many a good memory and catch on this body of water. Unfortunately, some "locals" started raiding the campground mid-day while folks were out fishing. It's a long way to restock the beer supply! And after too many calls to Sheriff, the campground was shut down. Too bad, it was a great "wilderness" experience for my family as the kids grew up.
We always caught keeper walleye, smallies, northern, musky & jumbo perch. Pannies could be found with some effort. Most action came slow drifting or trolling midlake deep structure and weed edges - deep diving cranks & harnesses. We also had a blast slipping up stream to the dam / power house. There is a nice hole where the two races converge. Pretty skinny water getting there some years though. The stream weed patches and shorelines held a few fish as we drifted back down to the lake.
The islands right at the mouth were great for the smallies & walleye. Snags and lost lures are to be expected.
Have fun, but don't leave anything in your vehicle.
