I was fishing here between N. Union and Branch River Road a few days ago with beads under a float, focusing on pools and deeper runs. To my disappointment I did not see any fish other than a single old coho, much less get a hit. I would think that by now some steelhead would've moved up!

Has anyone had late fall/winter success for steelhead on the Branch? I was under the impression that this was one of the better steelhead streams in the area. Or is it more of a spring run?

Any advice on techniques used on the Branch or timing via PM or posting is appreciated.

Fished around Highway 10 from 8-12:30. I caught a little smallmouth bass and a 24" Pike on a Little Cleo spoon, and two 30"+ Chinook salmon with makeshift drift rigs drifting Berkley Trout Worms. My friend caught one ~30" salmon.

Fished at Danmar Road from 1 to 2. Tons of salmon, none actually biting. Most looked pretty old. My fishing partner caught one large creek chub on a spoon.

Checked out the branch river near danmar road in manitowoc county on 10/2/17.  the salmon were out spawning in abundance. It truly was a sight to see. I was casting with artificial green maggots and no bites. a couple came along and told me to use spawn sacks and they gave me one but still no bites. There were a few people wading up and down the river. a older man  who was fly fishing said a 15 pounder was beached in the shallows which he returned to the water. i plan to see if the salmon are around this weekend but rain is in the forecast so iam guessing the water will become very cloudy.

I don't know whats in this river. but I fished tonight around way-mor park for about 45 minutes. lots of activity fish jumping and splashing around. used a worm on a simple jig. got a few bites. half my worm was missing. I think this river is very shallow where I was. If any one knows of good places to go on the branch river or facts on species in this river and where they are let me know

Stopped today to look for trout. River is a little high but clarity is good even after all the rain. Saw a few old salmon still swimming around, not a ton though. Landed a small male brown maybe 16" and spooked a pod of about a dozen fish downstream. Not a ton a fish in there but there is a few right now. The Manty downstream is running like chocolate milk.
