Hello everyone, looking to take my bowfishing boat out on the Madison chain for carp soon. Any areas that hold a lot of carp in the spring? Looking to thin out the population and help the fishery for other species. Feel free to message me. Thanks!

I am wondering if someone can point me in the right direction to shoot some carp. I am an experienced and avid bowfisherman but I mainly shoot in SE wisconsin. I am planning on heading out tonight. Any help would be appreciated.

If you think your low....go lower, Austin

I have heard mixed reports on bowfishing in Madison. I know you can on Waubesa and Kegonsa but I do not know about the others some people tell me no others say just keep your bow cased until you are away from the landing.... I personally do not test the DNR because I have never had much luck with their regs. If you buy anything from AMS it will be great they are a great company and have great equipment. I know Muzzy makes a good arrow and tip for carp that is what I use. I do not know of any stores where you can look at that stuff I would imagine the new Gander on the East side might have some of that stuff

I'm happy to see this thread. I'm interested in bowfishing, but have a few questions. Is it legal to discharge a bow on the lakes in Madison? According to the M.G.O's it doesn't appear to be so-even on the lakes. Does anyone know if this is true? Maybe they just don't enforce the law. What about shooting from shore in the city? Also, does anybody know of a good store in or around town where I can look at bowfishing equipment? I know about some of the online places such as AMS. Bowfishing seems like a great sport (lots of fun), but I'd just like some more info before investing money. Thanks.

I'll tell ya I tend to slay a few carp in the Spring in Madison from time to time. You gotta carch em at just the right time though. There is a warm water discharge in Monona that the carp love to hang around. And when they are spawning, its hard to beat Squaw bay. PM Me If you have any questions.
