We spent some time out on Big McKenzie this past week for musky's,  we caught one on a cow girl, saw another on a medussa, and might have had a small one on a top water at dark but it got off.

I have a friend that lives in Minong. Yesterday I called him and he said most everything is wide open in the area. He didn't mention the Mckenzie lakes but its a sure bet that if there is still ice on them it will be gone within a week from now considering the forecast.

Has anyone been by McKenzie lately or have a idea when they think the ice will be off?

Well we gave it a good go Saturday 10th and it did not work out.  Heard since then that last weekend was not good for anyone really.  We tried the spots we had success with last summer but did not quite work out.  We will try again in summer.  Saw some people out.  Tried one spot where there were some shacks but otherwise stayed to ourselves.

I know the lake has good walleye potential so was worth the try.

Yeah, many have been burned.  A guy I knew posted just the area he had his shack with some positive reports, and by the next week he had guys right next to him.  Nobody else had fished there besides him before.  Coincidence?  I think not.

Plenty of people know about lake link. From all over. People are hesitant to give a report, which include things like depth, bait, lure color, time of day, etc., because of the internet anglers who then ask people to message them exact locations, like this:

Irot, I don't think that many people in this area know about lake link. Because there are very few reports for the neighboring counties as well
