allseazons Try the long lake in washburn co. you'll find it there.
I might have read the same DNR compile report on inland cisco and whitefish. When I tried to read the fish report on Long Lake at New Auburn back for several years and did not come across any single person report that they caught any cisco in Long Lake. Little Bear also so listed as high number of cisco, but hardly heard anyone caught them either or people just not target them and not fish in deeper mud flat or something. I certainly would like to try it. I saw people fish for them and they fight really hard. It is fun to catch them.
Simply wondering if the majority of the ice is off Bear Lake...Thanks in advance.
Anyone know how thick the ice is on bear and is it driveable with all the snow we've been getting? Also anyone where on the lake i can find the cisco?
Grendel I was just looking that up again 2013 THE WHITEFISHES OF WISCONSIN INLAND LAKES: John Lyons. Cisco not whitefish. Bear Lake abundance high max length 16.5" Long Lake medium abundance 16.5 " Balsam Lake high abundance 18" 2013 netting study
Coming up to fish Bear for walleyes. Any info on this lake would be great. Would like to keep kids interested. Thanks
How much ice are we still seeing out there? Hoping we can get out there in the next few weekends.
Do they still get Whitefish out of this lake?
I checked it last Saturday. Surprisingly you could not get on the north landing in the shallow bay. The first 30 yards froze last for some reason. I’m sure you could get out now and find plenty of ice past that. The south bay landing was froze with about 4” of ice. Guys had been fishing but only out in 5-6’. Main lake was froze in some places and open in others.
Im sure there’s places you can fish. Now but maybe not where you’d like
