Looking for some info on the ice conditions. A friend and I are thinking about coming up that way to try to fish for Lakers but we are rather unfamiliar with the area. Any info would be greatly appreciated

I know this is a shot in the dark but im wondering if there are any places to camp free of charge around bayfield and cornucopia? Just need a small flat area to pitch a tent. Nothing special. Thanks in advance for any help! Tight lines.

Sorry, not a report. Just looking for any advice on the smallmouth fishing near the caves and rock walls. Never done it but wondering what area would be a good bet to start out and what methods to use. Will be fishing out of a kayak so hopefully the wind cooperates. Thanks in advance for any advice. Best of luck to everyone.

Instead of posting in the Ashland form I'll bring this back to the top. Yesterday lots of new nets were put out around the tip of long island. There are two long ones that go from the shore right at the tip of long island east and west and another that goes north and south. Markers are tough to see so be aware.

There are also several nets in the south channel on the north Madeline Island side. We did fish yesterday and got one nice Laker off the tip of long island in 60 feet of water on a dipsey 25 feet down on red and purple spoon. Water temp was 53 to 54 degrees. We did move over into the south channel near light house and fished in the 40 to 100 foot area with little success. We did mark fish in the high depths but couldn't figure out what the fish wanted yesterday.

We FINALLY have ice into the islands! Both Bayfield landings are open (Ferry line and Black Hawk) as well as Redcliff. In Redcliff parking is at Isle Vista casino and there is a trail down to the Lake. In Bayfield Parking can get crowded especially on weekends, because we are NOT parking on the ice yet. People have been fishing the mainland targeting breaks for browns and splake. People have also been fishing the South end of Basswood island looking for Lake Trout and Whitefish. People are now pushing to the northeren end of Baswood using the West Channel. Be Careful using the North Channel because of varible ice conditions. Good Luck out there and always remember to CHECK ice! The ice quality changes from day to day.

sorry, not a report... yet.. Going up with the in-laws this weekend and have never been in the area. Bringing a pole but have no clue if there is any public waters worth fishing. I don't care what I catch, it'll all be going back, just want some time away from them if needed. ;)Please PM me any suggestions. Thanks everyone!
