Has anyone been fishing the river? Any luck? I never fished the river and don't know what is best bait/rig to use or good spots to fish from shore. Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

"Small dam removal with the express goal of restoring rivers is a relatively new phenomenon, and has been found to be an effective and economical river restoration technique in many situations." From "Restoring the Flow' Recomendations from the small damremoval workshop held in guess where? Kohler Wi. At river Alliance of Wi. you can see before and after pictures of the dam removal at Franklin Wi. on the Sheboygan river the results are mind blowing and speak for themselves. Another good read is Dam Removal A New Option for a New Century. I repeat myself for the last time, the Kohler dam has no function other than to impede fish and screw up the river. If it was removed the river would go back to its original state of beauty like it did in Franklin. There are many good books and articles on small dam removal if you are interested or you can believe fishhound and the meetings he went to. You are right about one thing its time to stop talking about this.

I have nothing to prove, it has been proved by many state and federal agencies. Contact them and they will educate you as it is not my responsibility.

I never said I was smarter then you, I stated what we had been told by state and federal agencies, nothing more than that.

I also never once said you could not put on your waders or get in your kayak to get to the water below the dam. I said the dam is private, try and keep up.

The ramp was put in because of the burden it put on the community and those not involved with the event as well as helping the events function more efficiently. Again any money paid by the public has been repaid 1000 times over in taxes and monies brought to the area by said events. Why close it? Because it's not needed when there isn't an influx of 150 to 200 thousand people in one week.

I'm done with the topics, apparently somebody put something in your Cheerios this morning that made you very bitter.

P.S. When you contact the WDNR and ACoE you may want to ask them about "dams" and not "damns" so they know what you are talking about.

And by the way I could go to your damn anytime I wanted to either by kayak or waders. You need to learn the law on waterways anyone can use them.

Fishhound you are the one who has no idea what you are talking about. Damns like the one in Kohler are being removed across the country every day. The damns impede fish movements and have changed the river above the damn into a wasteland. If the damn was removed the river on that stretch would return to its original state. Man very rarely makes things better. What you go to a few meetings and that makes you smarter than me? I do resent Kohler for the way they intimidate fisherman who have done nothing wrong. And you could not be more wrong about tax money paying for that exit. The golf course and the tourneys were there way before the exit. And why close it when there is no tourny? It makes no sense. The Kohler Co. with its great wealth seems petty harassing fisherman. Do your homework on damns I guarantee that damn not only is not needed it actually hurts. Tell me one good thing that damn does and back it up with facts or just go away.

The exit off I-43 has paid for itself 1000 times over simply by the tax dollars brought to the area during events. You appear to be very short sighted and have some sort of grudge against Kohler as a whole.

I'm sorry if they have wronged you in some way, but get over it and move on with life.
