Walked out on a "big" Waukesha county lake yesterday about 30 yards out still found about 3 inches. mostly all frozen from what I could see, a couple open spots. You could see where the ice froze at different points in time, but this snow may have covered that up...
Getting ready to head out on 1st ice trip, will post results...
26° - 30° F
Looked aound a little for enough ice in Wauk. Cty. to see if i had my new hand auger blades shims corectly. That didn't happen.
My buddy walked on ice today,Walworth county
Did the "cds drive" late this afternoon. There won't be any safe ice in Waukesha County this weekend. That doesn't mean there won't be people who try tho! School Section and Henrietta were around 75% iced over, mostly skim ice to 3/4 inch thick. All the other lakes were from less than 50% iced over to completely ice free. Temps this weekend aren't conducive to making lots of ice. There will be some small, shallow lakes with safe ice Wednesday
S&G. Turtle Lake?
What county, popper?
Forecast looks decent, not great. No 0 degree temps, which really make ice. The other problem is that water temps are back to 40 degrees and may hit 42 Monday. So that sets the ice back a couple days. On the positive side, very little snow forecasted. Snow is what made the ice so unsafe the first week or so last year. Considering all the factors, I'm hoping for 2 1/2 inches of perfect black ice by the 11th on my favorite small, shallow first ice lake in Waukesha county. Pic is from 2 years ago when ice was like that
