Lake Heyburn State Park

Live the good life with a great RV camping experience in former Indian territory at Lake Heyburn State Park in Bristow, Oklahoma. An excellent destination, this park is off the beaten path. You will find that with it's laid back, easy going atmosphere creates a gem of a getaway experience among the breathtaking grasslands of the South. The campground offers 46 electrical and water hookup camping sites along with a picnic shelter, beach, and hiking trails. Anglers will find Lake Heyburn as a place to catch crappie, bass, and catfish from their boat or along the lake shore. Enjoy hours of fun while out on Lake Heyburn boating or water skiing with your friends. Horse trails are available to explore during your stay as well and horses maybe kept on camping sites tethered to poles at the Sheppard Point campground. Leave Fido back at the campsite as animals are not allowed to play in the swimming area. Reservations are highly suggested especially around the holiday weekends. From building a campfire, hosting a family reunion or taking in the views of the wildlife, once you’re here, you will definitely plan to visit this serene park again next season!


Transportation

Driving

Travel Route 66 and stay at Lake Heyburn State Park! Pack your RV and head to camp in an area that is off the beaten path. A short drive of fewer than 9 miles from Bristow, Oklahoma, this destination is located off of 257th West Ave and an estimated 10 miles from 1-40. Once you arrive at the state park, take the paved road towards the campground for three miles. A great getaway location as Lake Heyburn State Park is located less than a 100 miles from Oklahoma City and 30 miles from Tulsa.

Parking

When you arrive at this quiet and serene state park, try to visit the ranger station before arriving at your camping spot to check-in and get a map. Visitors with larger camper trailers may find the park roads difficult to navigate, especially around the entrance. Due to the abundance of shade trees, be on the lookout for low hanging branches as you drive. Sites are mainly gravel and are mostly level but plan on packing leveling blocks just in case. Depending on which spot you reserve, the campground allows for both back-in and pull-through parking. Don’t hesitate to headout to Lake Heyburn State Park - you’ll be glad you did!

Sheppard Point Campground
