Good afternoon Ohio Folks. Ill be working in the Dayton area in May. Im looking to get out in fish in your state and Im looking for suggestions, Would you fish for crappie on Indian Lake or on Grand Lake? What is best to target the last few weeks of May?

Got out yesterday morning until 4pm. Caught a decent amount of fish, most were smaller but managed to keep 3 nice Crappies and around 10 big gills. It was nice to see so few people out, the fish seemed to react a lot better when not so heavily pressured. Although it was blistering cold the fishing was still pretty good. Looks like we will have plenty of ice out there for a while after this cold snap came through...

Went out on Friday morning. Tried a couple different areas which all produced fished just nothing in any quantities. I managed to keep 15 nice size gills and a Crappie. The wind was blowing at around 15 - 20 mph.

Went out this morning, fishing was pretty slow again. I ended up with 6 crappie, a perch and 2 gills. I finally caught a walleye but it was only about 9 inches. A guy fishing around me caught a 22 inch saugeye. Cant wait for the late ice feeding frenzy to begin!

Went out early this morning in a new area. Started fishing in 10 - 7 fow and managed to ice a couple large crappies but the bite was extremely slow. Moved around around quite a bit to try and locate some active fish but judging by the amount of holes in the area, it was heavily pressured and real tough to get anything to bite. Managed to keep 6 crappies and a random gill.

Fished Saturday morning until about 2PM. The weather was extremely warm but also very windy too (20mph). Drilled a couple holes and caught a large blue gill and perch right off the bat and then it was few and far between from there. Ended up with 3 large gills, 3 good perch and a keeper crappie. Also caught over a dozen small white bass that went back. Hows the ice fishing been for anyone else on this lake this year??

Went out on Saturday morning from 9am to 3pm and left the lake with 6 jumbo perch and 30 slab gills. The bite wasn't hot and heavy but steady if you hole hopped. Very impressed with the class of fish in this lake.

Got out again on Wednesday the 23rd and it was not worth the drive. The water came up overnight bigtime and flushed all the fishies out.

Water level was probably 2-3 feet higher than it was Saturday. Talked to one guy who caught one fish, and that was the only luck I'd heard of.

Got out for some saugeye last Saturday before the rains hit.

Fished below the spillway on the Miami River. The males were stacked up in there. I did best on a jig and twister or a jig/twister/leech. The guy I was fishing with was using "vib-e's" and getting some. It was hard NOT to snag fish, they were so thick. All ours got tossed back, but not everyone was so honest.

Several people in there fishing, saw several limits leave the river. I'd say that of the fish that my partner and I didn't catch, very near 100% of the fish I saw caught were snagged. The guys fishing from downstream and casting up into the pool would snag the fish in the face as the lure came right at them, I'm thinking. One dude was using a double jig rig of some kind and he left with a limit of 6 in about 20 minutes. All came in sideways.
