HISTORY AND STATUS OF FISHERY

BLUEGILLS ARE EXTREMELY ABUNDANT AND GROWTH IS SLOW. BLACK CRAPPIE NUMBERS ARE ALSO SEVERAL TIMES THE LOCAL MEDIAN BUT GROWTH RATES OF INDIVIDUAL FISH ARE ABOUT AVERAGE. OF AGE GROUPS I THROUGH VIII, ONLY ONE WAS NOT REPRESENTED IN THE NET CATCH; AGE GROUP III WAS MOST NUMEROUS. NORTHERN PIKE POPULATION IS LOW IN NUMBER AND APPROXIMATELY AVERAGE IN INDIVIDUAL GROWTH. LARGEMOUTH BASS WERE NOT CAUGHT IN TEST NETS DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS FISH, BUT, REPORTEDLY, EXIST IN THIS LAKE. BULLHEADS AND YELLOW PERCH ARE RARE.
