Basswood Lake is a large freshwater lake located in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) in northern Minnesota. The lake is part of the Superior National Forest and is located near the Canadian border.

Basswood Lake covers approximately 25,953 acres (105 square kilometers) and has a maximum depth of around 111 feet (34 meters). The lake is known for its clear waters, rugged shorelines, and excellent fishing opportunities, with populations of walleye, northern pike, and smallmouth bass.

Once you have experienced fishing here, no other lake compares. Trophy fishing abound, it is god's country. You have to come up here at least ounce in your life.

Lots of big gators,especially in May and June.Walleye are abundant, and the smallies are everywhere.Permits are necessary and there's a 25 H.P.motor limit.

Wow!! What a fantastic fishery! We limited out in Walleye, Smallies, and came a few short for Northern, not to mention eating shore lunch 3 of 6 days, and there were 4 of us!! LaTourell's on Moose lake has easy access.
