It was all bass, all morning!    The meal ticket for me was a 4 inch Power Bait minnow on a Northland Tackle Whistler jig head. The slim profile of a minnow and the fluttering jig head made it irresistible to the large moth bass! I lost a nice big one but made it up by catching another chunky sized bass. I found all the fish shooting docks on the north side of the lake. Fun morning catching large mouth bass!

I've been waiting for the crowds at the lakes to settle down before going fishing during "peak times" and it seems like after the 4th of July, almost every lake has dwindled down to the usual suspects

It's been a while since I have fished Wasserman and man I should have just showed up at sunset because the large mouth bass were hitting top water left and right!  I rigged up a Powerbait paddle tail perch on a 1/0 hook and tossed it in the deep weeds right near the boat landing. Skipping it across the weeds and into the open pools of water tempted the bass to strike!   . Nothing of size but it was still fun catching them!

The water was murky and very warm. I estimate that the water is well above 80 degrees. Keeping this in mind, I will most likely fish deep and with bright colors to lure the bass. Otherwise I can try fishing at dusk/dawn when it is cooler out.

What a great day for fishing! Clear blue skies with highs in the 70s!    The pan fish must have agreed also! Using a curly tail grub, red with white tail, I was able to catch a hand full of crappies and blue gills. Some of the crappies had some decent size and girth. The pan fish are lingering in the shallows, so fishing the shores along with shooting a few docks will produce the best results. I registered the water temp to about 52 degrees. It won't be long until the pan fish get into spawning mode!

I had a surprised catch at Lake Wasserman in Victoria Minnesota tonight! It was a beautiful evening and I was out scouting for pan fish with the dog and wife. I caught a few blue gills here and there on a Power Bait 2 inch minnow, but boy was I surprised to get this big Northern Pike!   I didn't have my GoPro on me so the wife assisted with filming the action. Due to the respect of the out of season catch, I immediately released this big girl without measuring. Unknown length and weight, but she sure was a fighter on my 3lb test line!

First time open water fishing at Lake Wasserman in Victoria MN this season! The weather was beautiful this morning and temps were expected to hit the 60s later in the afternoon. Zero winds gave a calm lake to fish on. Water temps were in the upper 40s (44-45 degrees).

Scanning the lake with my Garmin Striker, I noticed the fish are still in the deep. They were hovering around 16 FOW in 25 FOW. I did my best looking for panfish with PowerBait 2inch Minnows, but was only able to find a small large mouth bass with beautiful spots. Regardless, still a fun time on the lake and I look forward to a great season.

It was fish or bust this morning on Lake Wasserman! I started off with incredible bad luck as I was losing large mouth bass left and right. I even lost one bass that looked to be pushing over 20 inches!   . I didn't leave empty handed though...After catching a few pan fish, dink bass, and northern pike, I was able to catch a monster 20 inch large mouth bass while trolling a crappie crankbait!   . There are plenty more monsters I marked on the fish finder. I will be back out again soon to look for these 20 inch plus boys!

This report is from last night. Went back out for round 2 during the on and off rain storm to slam some more large mouth bass! I had a hard time hooking up. I was getting bites every 5 casts or so. Only 3 fish in the boat, but still fun fishing with the Berkley Powerbait Bearded Single Tail Grub (black with blue flake) rigged Texas style.  1 Northern and 2 large mouth bass. Largest bass pushed 19-20 inches.

This report was from last night. Wow! The fishing was great! Despite the strong southern winds and the temperature drop, the large mouth bass were biting like crazy! The meal ticket was a Berkley Powerbait Bearded Single Tail Grub (black with blue flake) rigged Texas style.

I fished the northern shore of the lake near docks and structure. The wind must have been pushing bait fish up to shore causing a feeding frenzy. I've had a dozen or more missed opportunities for a good hook set and I even got bit off once by a northern pike! Largest bass pushed 18-19 inches.

It was a windy opener but the fish were still biting! Water temp was 52 degrees and we fished the north shore of the lake. Nice eater size crappies were hitting almost every cast and a bunch of dink bass were caught also. Our best bass was 19 inches, caught while coming back in to the landing. Not a bad opener and a great start to the season

I was just on the lake again Sunday and while fishing the same docks and cover, the bass are still biting! This time I Texas rigged a Lake Fork Trophy Crawfish plastic. Largest fish was 17 and a half inches
