Ice out at Lake Susan! I had most of my gear together so I went to the lake after supper to look for the pannies. I used a Berkley Powerbait 2 inch minnow on a drop shot rig while fishing the shoreline near the boat landing. I set my depth to 2 feet and to my surprise I hooked into a fish! It wasn't a crappie, but a nice little bass . She was the only fish for the night, but it was fun! Can't wait for more fishing to come!

Fall is coming and the big boys will be out feasting soon...so I thought I'd take a gander at Lake Susan after supper tonight. The water has cleared up and the green gobby mess is gone. I only caught a pike and a large mouth bass on the weed lines of the north shore, in 10 to 12 feet of water, but I have a feeling there will be plenty more action!
First time ice fishing on this lake this season. No real good spot to hold up on. There are no humps, holes, or any structure on the lake that I can find. Average depth was 12-15 feet. I sat on a hole that was about 12 feet deep in front of where the fishing dock is located. Had to call the fish in with glow jigs. They would come and go on the sonar, but when dusk approached the crappies started to hook up. Largest was about 11inches.
Finally found the crappies! You can see the crappies schooling up on the shore.
Finally I am able to go open water fishing! Drop shot rig with 2" power bait minnow. Looking for pan fish, but ended up with a bunch of these little baby large mouth bass.

Looking for pan fish, but did not find any today. A buddy and I caught a northern pike each. I was drop shot fishing using a 2 inch power bait minnow and my buddy was using a 2 inch power bait grub.

Open water on Lake Susan. Drop shot fishing for panfish and all I came up with was a dink large mouth bass. I was using a powerbait 2 inch minnow.
