Caught perch in Bayport. Marked quite a few larger fish, but they weren't taking my smaller baits, they would just check it out and move on.Will adjust next week if I go out.

Cold and windy day on the Croix yesterday.  Fished the no wake zone north of 94 to swing bridge.  Caught 2 eyes, one on a minnow and one on a crawler.  Lots of nice small mouths mixed in. Only was out 3 hours, not many boats out

Launched at beanies like I have for past 20 years. Last time I will ever go.  If meeting up make sure you ride together, they charge $20 per car if you launch or not.  Rude staff, no help, no supplies.

Not gonna lie, kinda bummed the St. Croix isn't opening a week ahead of the Wisconsin opener like it has in past years. Probably won't matter much this year with how high the water level is. Always thought it was nice to get out two weeks earlier than Minnesota's opener for some action.

Anybody know why they backed this off?

Fishing was slow yesterday caught 1 small Walleye on a jig, couple of sheepshead (I ate one!), and a real nice 24” cat which came on a creek chub. Kept the cat, which ate wonderfully. Without a double catfish are my favorite freshwater fish to eat. It blew any other fish fry this year. The sheepshead was fine. It was actually very, very firm, and tasted about like any fried fish. It cleaned just fine to. No weird bones or anything. I would do it again, no problem. With as firm as it was it would probably lend itself to other methods of cooking very nicely.

I stayed just south of the 94 bridge in about 30FOW, mostly because that's the only fall spot I have.
